You must present 3 causes.
The essay should consist of 5 paragraphs.
The introduction should contain a clearly written thesis statement that explicitly presents the 3 causes.
The body paragraphs should begin with a clearly written topic sentence that mirrors the 3 causes as stated in the thesis.

What Causes University Students to Fail?
Students face a lot of pressure with their studies nowadays but, not all students perform well under this pressure, some of them does not perform right so bad to the point that they fail. There are many factors that makes a university student fail a course, one of the main factors is procrastination since the students have a lot of assignments and homework, procrastination makes everything cumulate and very hard to keep up with. One other factor is lack of motivation in which the student does not have any motive to finish their work, then comes distractions from friends or family, students does not know how to say “no” and get into situations where they cannot finish their work and fall into procrastination. Distractions from various aspects in the society including movies and social media expose the university students to distractions undermining the potential education and university success of the students (Lepp, Barkley, & Karpinski, 2015). Therefore, university students are failing to meet the course requirements due to the lack of proper drive and motivation, procrastination as well as exposure to numerous distractions in the society.
Lack of student motivation is one of the key causes of university students failing in their courses. College work can often be demanding and it is expected that the students will be committed to complete all the course works in time to avoid any failures. However, the lack of drive and motivation is a major cause of failings in the university. According to Marcela (2015), the lack of student motivation in doing their assignments and courses well is a major cause of failure in the university education. It is easy and possible to help students who are ready to perform well on their university courses. However, the students who are not committed to their courses they cannot be able to perform well on their university course programs. University managements do not always help the students to establish clear goals and objectives in their future performance. However, the lack of motivation and efforts from the students gives the impression they are not ready to succeed in their college courses. This leads to the overall failure in completing the university courses effectively. Therefore, the less-motivated and unmotivated students end up failing to complete their university courses as scheduled.
Procrastination is a problem that has led to the deterioration of the performance and productivity of the students. In the universities, students have a higher temptation to indulge in fun. For example, the access to quality internet connection and friends already in the library can lead to a student taking a small break that ends up wasting around an hour. It is critical to know that students who suffer from procrastination are capable students. The fear of failing creates anxiety that leads to avoiding taking the right action to complete their university courses. Under such a situation, it shows that avoidance to make efforts equals to procrastination. Students try to avoid challenging circumstances through procrastination. Anxieties and fears related to the fear of failure are the actual problems to academic success. Students undergoing procrastination are usually unable to perform well on their university courses. It is not always about the design of effective time management skills and programs. However, it is possible for students to overcome the causes of procrastination including taking immediate actions and recognizing procrastination.
Today, most university students fail in their courses because of numerous distractions. Some of the common distractions that make the students not to concentrate on their work include unsupportive familiar environments, social media, TV, friends, and video games among others. Familiar environments including in the dorm house and apartments with other students presents significant distraction and thus, limiting the students from studying. Movies and TV are not good for students seeking to perform well in their studies. Favorite TV shows such as Teen Wolf are huge time wasters for students. For example, some student spends more than five years watching series films instead of devoting the time on covering the course objectives and guidelines (Beiter, et al., 2015). Having close friends and buddies in your rooms creates an environment of fun and engagement that derails the ability to learn effectively. The inability to manage friends and family members can reduce the time available for students to cover the university coursework. Other distractions includes exercise and engaging in hobbies like reading a book or running 5K. Such elements will take more time off reading and cause huge disruption on the ability to cover the set out university course work and plans.
In summary, the causes of university students failing in their courses include the lack of motivation, procrastination, and distractions. Distractions that make the students not to concentrate on their work include unsupportive familiar environments, social media, TV, friends, and movies. For example, Familiar environments including in the dorm house and apartments with other students presents significant distractions in the universities. Students try to avoid challenging circumstances through procrastination. Anxieties and fears related to the fear of failure are the actual problems to academic success. The lack of motivation and efforts from the students gives the impression they are not ready to succeed in their college courses. This leads to the overall failure in completing the university courses effectively. The university students should take proactive actions to overcome these challenges including lack of motivation, procrastination, and distractions as it would be a huge challenge on the academic success of the students.
